If you want help choosing cities, fixing pacing, or checking whether your route works for kids, parents or a first visit, start on the trip-planning page.
See trip-planning helpGood questions to send me
- Whether your itinerary fits the number of days you have
- Which apps to install before you land (and what to print as backup)
- Whether a specific route works for parents, kids or a first visit
- How to handle payments, SIM cards and transport without a local bank account
I usually reply on WhatsApp or email within a day or two.

Travel rules in China change often. If a page is out of date — a visa rule, a train booking window, a closed attraction — email the page URL and, if you have it, the official source. Confirmed errors are fixed and recorded on the editorial standards page. Corrections get priority over new content.
For route questions, include your nationality, travel dates, how many nights you have and what you most want to see. With those four things I can usually give a useful answer in one reply.
This is not an emergency service
Messages are read when I am online, which may not be immediately. In China, call110 for police, 120 for an ambulance and 119 for the fire service. For medical emergencies, go to the nearest hospital’s emergency department or ask your hotel to call an ambulance. Contact your embassy or consulate for lost passports or consular emergencies.

I live in China and spend most of my free time testing the routes, apps and payment setups that visitors actually use. This site is the notes I wish someone had given me before my first trip — practical, honest, and dated so you know how current it is.
