Who this suits
A short city break, a stopover, or a business trip with two free days. If this is your only China trip, add Beijing or Xi’an rather than stretching Shanghai.
What it costs
¥4,000–6,500 per person, including two nights of mid-range hotel, food, tickets and local transport. International flights excluded.

If the plan does not fit
Suzhou instead of a third Shanghai day
A 25-minute high-speed train reaches Suzhou’s gardens and canals. It is the easiest “old China” day trip from Shanghai and pairs well with a late return.
Water town or Disney
Zhujiajiao is the closest water town (about an hour by metro/bus); Shanghai Disney is a full day and needs its own ticket. Both replace the museum-and-tower day, not the Bund.
