Who this suits
Travellers who care more about atmosphere, food and one strong day trip than ticking off a long list of sights. Chengdu rewards a slower pace.
What it costs
¥3,500–5,500 per person, including two nights of mid-range hotel, food, local transport and one day trip. International flights excluded.
Book in this order
- 1Book the Panda Base ticket before you land and go at opening time — pandas are far less active by noon.
- 2Reserve hotpot on weekends or holidays; the famous places do not absorb walk-ins well after 18:00.
- 3If you want Leshan, book the high-speed train the day before and leave early.

If the plan does not fit
Dujiangyan instead of Leshan
Choose Dujiangyan and Qingcheng Mountain if you want greenery and engineering history rather than another giant-ticket landmark.
Keep it fully urban
If you hate day trips, spend the third day in Wide and Narrow Alleys, museums, coffee shops and another slow tea-house afternoon. Chengdu can handle that pace easily.
